Many youth organisations have an online presence and use social media tools like Facebook to engage with young people online. However, many don’t fully consider the importance of safeguarding their online profile or the young people they may be engaging with.
NVCO have provided some useful weblinks that talk about how to promote good internet practice in voluntary organisations and how to safeguard young people online.

"The Dig Your Heart Out" project is run by Highlands and Islands Youth for Christ and Reverb church - a youth section of the local Methodist church. They are giving three households a groundforce garden style makeover.
Youth worker, Dave Saunders, who is supervising the work says that "the project aims to provide young people with a chance to volunteer and show the community they care". They appeared in the Inverness Courier on 23rd July. For more information click here. 26/07/2010
The Big Lottery Fund has a new grant aimed at supporting vulnerable young people through change.
The Co-op has some interesting initiatives, both financial and resource based, to support young people.
In previous years central government has announced grants in August with a short application time. This year may be different due to the current climate but it is worth keeping an eye on Funding Central where such grants will appear
NCVYS is keeping abreast of all the changes and issuing briefing notes to save us a lot of time but keeping us well informed. It is worth visiting regularly
Youth Access have launched a new masters programme in youth counselling which may be of interest.
Formerly known as Staff Conference:
Venue - Bodelwyddan Castle, Wales

In 2011 the Monday is a Bank holiday, so we will be running a special programme to accommodate people who want to come on the Monday, and those that may not be able to. Registration will start at 2:30pm on Monday 3rd January in the Elwi bar and our time together will finish mid morning on Friday January 7th.

The full YFC Conference programme will begin in the morning with Bible teaching at 10:30am on Tuesday 4th January. We hope that this will enable people to travel up and join the conference on Tuesday morning if they need to.
Please indicate which day you will be arriving on the booking form. The address is: Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, North Wales, LL18 5YA The European Social Fund gives grants to extend employment opportunities and develop a skilled and adaptable workforce. There has never been a better time to run Youth Alpha and here are the two reasons why:
1. It is now totally refreshed, free and online. At www.youthalpha.org/talkbuilder you can build your own course and customise each session to your group. Also if you know Christian young people who want to run the course in their school it has never been easier or cheaper to enable them to do so…
2. In partnership with Alpha we are running a National Weekend Away in October – let us handle most of the headaches of organising the weekend away. No group is too small or too big (almost!) and we would love to see you there.
If you have any other questions or we can serve you in any further way please do not hesitate to get in touch by email phil.knox@yfc.co.uk or call me on 07739 687 508.
Thanks, Phil.
Advance dates for your diary 2011

Focus Day Follow Up 2010
On this year's focus tour a number of people talked about the choirs they were setting up and Youth Café’s are also becoming more popular. There seems to be a growing interest in these areas of ministry. If you are interested in this area of work or have ministry like this please email richard.bromley@yfc.co.uk. We will then draw together a conference call to see if there is anything we can do to promote these areas of ministry.
On the focus tour a number of centres brought along work experience students Is there interest in providing some support for this for next year? We can then think about best practice etc. Please email richard.bromley@yfc.co.uk
