Starting a YFC Local Ministry (Local Centre)
In cities, towns and villages across Britain Youth for Christ ministries are involved in the lives of young people week in, week out seeking to take Good News relevantly to every young person in their area.
Taking lessons in schools, running street projects, hosting a drop in after school club and supporting churches in their ministry with young people are just a few of the things that Youth for Christ Centres do day in and day out. These Local Ministries are locally focussed, locally driven outreach projects to young people. Working under the mission of YFC of “taking the good news of Jesus to every young person in Great Britain”.
On this page you will find resources to start the process of discerning if this is right for your community and what you need to do to establish a YFC Centre. After that initial contact the birth of a YFC Centre takes three distinctive stages:
Enquiry Stage
During the enquiry stage YFC will assist you in organising key meetings with interested people to investigate what YFC local ministry could look like in your area.
Development Stage
During the development stage YFC will be on hand for advice as you set up and develop management structures such as becoming a registered charity, CRB and appropriate policies to ensure the long term sustainability of youth evangelism in your area.
Launch Stage
YFC will work with you as you appoint workers and see the work with young people starting. Beyond this, YFC is still on-hand to offer support, training, advice and consultancy to you and local staff.
